We are not including the pink & orange flag designs that are gaining popularity (sadlesbeandisaster's 7-stripe flag and taqwomen's 5-stripe flag) as they are mashups of McCray's lipstick design with Butch Positivity's (@firstname.lastname@example.org) butch lesbian flag. As they are still clearly derivative of McCray's work they still carry the baggage of the bigotry that people are trying to avoid by abandoning her design in the first place.
We have now also changed the lesbian pride heart from the all-pink design derived from Natalie McCray's lipstick lesbian flag. We now have two lesbian pride hearts, from Lydia's Sappho-inspired flag and Maya Kern's revision. These flags, the rationale for their creation, and the reasons to stop using McCray's lipstick lesbian design and derivatives can be found in Lydia's Medium post "A Lesbian Flag For Everyone": https://medium.com/@lydiandragon/a-lesbian-flag-for-everyone-cef397b89459
When mass-importing the Mutant Standard emote set earlier this month, a mistake was made that unfortunately required a purge of custom emotes. In the process of restoring the emotes the shortcodes for the pride heart set were changed to a more accessible format (demonstrated in a CWed reply to this thread so as to not be a nuisance for screenreaders).
Poor freedom of speech. Its meaning has taken such a drubbing in the last few years.
I mean, originally, it was just "the government can't tell you what you can and can't say".
Then someone decided it meant "what you say should never have any consequences".
Then someone decided that it meant "nobody can deny you a soapbox".
Then someone decided that it meant "nobody can refuse to listen to you."
Now apparently it means "every program that could possibly access my soapbox MUST do so."
CTA ATTENTION ALL FEDIVERSE ADMINS:
On July 4th Gab is coming on to the Fediverse by switching over to Mastodon on their servers.
This means that you can shut the door on them today by preemptively have them fully suspended from your instances. So your users do not have risk getting harassed by any of their users, and they from the start be blocked off from major portions of the Fediverse.
Thank you for your consideration and
Just saw a thing crediting "disabled femmes" and that may be accurate in this case but I see a lot of people, esp cis people, trying to use it as a placeholder for "not cis dudes."
There are cis women who aren't femme. There are trans women who aren't femme. There are nonbinary and genderqueer folks who aren't femme.
It's cool if you just mean femmes but let's not let this become some shorthand 😬
From the "Great Moments in Customer Service" Department:
In 1972, the Procrastinators Club of America sent a letter to the Whitechapel Bell Foundry in London, complaining that the Liberty Bell was cracked.
After an interval, the foundry responded:
“We would be happy to provide a replacement bell. Kindly return the damaged bell to us in its original packaging.”
fediverse archive setting idea
"Third party archive permissions":
[Y/N] Boosting accounts may preserve content in their account archives
[Y/N] Mentioned servers may preserve content in threads
[Y/N] Archivists may preserve content if anonymized
[Y/N] Automated tools may preserve content.
idk probably some others
mostly I was thinking that the first one would be nice because Tumblr and Twitter defaulted to that being on and that gave me offline access to some content that's gone now
If, like me, you are planning to follow SGDQ next week, you might be interested in having the schedule available in iCal format for importing into whatever thing you use for calendaring.
The event organisers do not supply such a calendar, so I've got one being updated hourly, hosted here: https://www.ninetailed.net/sgdq_2019_schedule.ical
(Script used to generate it here: https://www.ninetailed.net/sgdq-ical.py
I made some modifications to a similar script someone put together for 2014, credit in the script itself.)
Just trying to figure out Masto.
An invite-only Mastodon instance geared towards nerdiness and geekery with a mind for social justice. Slightly Pokémon themed. Has a Phanpy mascot!
